8/3/08 Minnesota and the Mall of America

8/3/08 Sunday Left Big Sioux Recreation Area, Brandon, S.D. this morning after spending two nights to recharge our batteries.  Traveling I-90 then north on I-60 to Minneapolis we saw lots of corn and smelled many odiferous areas of cattle or pigs (not sure which smell is worse).  Decided to take the road less traveled instead of I-90 to I-35 and wasn’t disappointed as we wound around and through many small communities along the way.  Again was reminded that if the bathroom-ceiling vent is up just a little bit, the bathroom smell isn’t channeled into the coach while we are driving.  I only set us on one little detour today, other than that, I negotiated the map well.  Terry and Matty just traveled marvelously as usual.

The Mall of America was an experience that we thoroughly enjoyed.  Getting there as late in the day on a Sunday as we did, we only had several hours, but we made the most of it.  Terry took three drives in the NASCAR SILICON Motor ride.  “It was Awesome,” he said as he grinned ear to ear afterwards.  He was just getting the hang of it when it was over.  Each race was 7 minutes on one of the big race NASCAR tracks.  I didn’t go because I was sure that I would be car sick – good plan.

Moose Mountain Golf in the Mall of America was really fun.  I ended a terrible round of golf with a hole in one.  We looked out over the amusement park and the rides are amazing.

We also bought a set of wireless earphones so Terry can watch TV after I decide to go to bed.  There just isn’t enough room between the TV and the bed so we solved that problem.  The trick to the headphones is that you set the volume you want to listen to and then you mute the TV.  The headphones still work and the TV is silent.  I’m looking forward to sleeping tonight however Terry isn’t staying up really late like he was at home, but it is still about midnight.  I still haven’t adjusted to the Central Time zone yet so here it is 11:00 pm and it still feels much earlier.
