8/1/08 Friday We awoke to the beautiful Missouri River right by our campground. (We knew we were on it; it was much prettier in the daylight.) When the wind was blowing the bugs weren’t bad at all. I-90 was full, very full of motorcycles and RV of every size and shape pulling trailers with motorcycles. License plates from the east coast and Ontario were everywhere. Big groups have 20 or more riders at a time – constant all day. Wow, we were glad we were leaving the area. There were many when we were in the Black Hills, but it is somewhere to be away from at this point. The Sturgis Rally starts on Monday and our timing was so perfect.
Terry wanted to see the Corn Palace in Mitchell S.D. and it was wonderful. All of the decorations except the tops are changed every year. The same artist has been doing it for years using many different colors of ears of corn which are cut in half length-wise to make a mosaic of wonderful designs.
I got us very lost in Sioux Falls after we couldn’t get to the big Falls Park in downtown because of a low bridge. Wow, I was way off, but we found cheap gas and got back on the road to I-90. The campgrounds were full, but we found a spot that was the last one available so our luck has held until today. Hopefully we will continue to be as lucky.
