8/15/08 Duluth, WWII and Wisconsin
Of course I had to stop at the same quilt shop along the road today since I needed a few supplies to work on the project that I bought yesterday. Again, Terry was cool!
In Duluth we went over the Ariel Bridge and down the road to Superior Wisconsin. Walking around with the hordes of people along the boardwalk in Duluth after being around so few of them, didn’t appeal to us so we just did some looking from the RV and drove into Superior Wisconsin. The Ariel Bridge was amazing, but the Richard I. Bong World War II Heritage Center was one of those treasures that wasn’t expected. We were honored to watch and experience this tribute to Major Bong and WWII. Terry took many pictures to remember the awesome story and information that was shared.
Fittingly we left Minnesota on Hwy 2 and it is the same Hwy 2 that goes near our house towards Newport and on east from Bonners Ferry. Going up Hwy 13 toward the Lake Superior shore we found a nice campground with great wireless Internet and great Olympic TV coverage. Just like home – me on the computer and the TV in the background. Travel really isn’t so different from home. I just don’t have the yard, the big house, the big kitchen or my sewing room. I must admit I don’t miss any of those things – I miss the people. I miss the grandkids, the kids, my dad and mom, my friends, the church, etc. I miss them very much, but I wouldn’t trade this time with Terry. We really are making memories for a lifetime.
