8/29/08 Camping at Walmart before heading to Lake Placid
Camping in the Walmart at Watertown NY was the quietest Walmart yet. We got an early start for us and drove into the Adirondacks Park which is 2.5 times as big as Yellowstone. Wow, sure is big with way to few campgrounds. The scenery was a wonderful change to mountains, rivers and creeks, which we love. Some trees have started to turn their autumn colors so we were treated to scarlet, yellow and the standard 1,000s of shade of green as we drove along narrow, windy roads. At Lake Placid we found a small campground away from the crowded main streets. Tomorrow we will do some exploring because this afternoon is NAPTIME for us all. Weary travelers make for cranky travelers, which isn’t fun. The Olympic venues will be fun to visit. As we drove by the ski jumping towers, I was totally blown away and speechless which is hard for me. So high, I had no idea they were so high.
