8/8/08 Friday Eckbeck State Park and Matty’s new friend

8/8/08 Friday Eckbeck State Park and Matty’s new friend
Ruth, the three year old in the campsite next to us, just loves Matty. She sneaks away any chance she gets to sit next to Matty on the picnic bench or walk with me when I walk Matty or go to the garbage bin. Her parents are from the Minneapolis area and very nice people.

Most of the day I sat by and watched Terry work on the RV problem. He brought the battery charger and has it plugged into the outlet on the outside of the RV to charge the battery hoping that the problem is a low battery and not the alternator. Since it is a new battery, he didn’t expect to find it the problem, but to rule it out. With the generator generating the power to the outlets, he ran the charger for a long time. That didn’t work so he isolated one of the other deep cell batteries and tried to start the engine that was. Didn’t work either so he decided the problem was more complicated than just the alternator. Electrical problems are such a pain in the neck! Good thing Terry brought his tool! He is ready for most anything.

While waiting for the battery charger, he beat me soundly at two of three games of cribbage. That means that each time we have played cribbage, I have lost two of the three games we played. In the evening I changed the game to gin thinking that I would have an even chance. His luck would hold and after several hours he was ahead of me 1100 to 699. Lots more time for me to get back into contention on both games. In the evening when we don’t have TV, we play cards. I don’t miss the TV one bit most of the times, but with the opening of the Olympics on tonight, I regret not having it.
