MAY 23, '09 North and South Rim of the Grand Canyon

How awesome it was to walk out to the very edge of the north rim and look into the Grand Canyon.
North Rim of the Grand Canyon

Our adventures on the North and South Rim of the Grand Canyon have been awesome. Internet connection at this KOA isn't strong enough to post pictures, but we do have some great ones. Two full days on the North Rim amazed us with spectacular vistas. One can never tire of the scenery. Camping 45 miles from the rim gave us time to enjoy the scenry that surprised us with Ponderosa and Douglas Pine forests. Both of us expected desert right up to the edge. Totally surprising. With the water table about 3,000 feet below the surface on both sides, the underbrush was scarce, but sage, cliff rose, pinion trees, and currant bushes were abundant also. Again our problem is so many pictures and so little space to share them.

Yesterday we rode the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams, AZ to the rim. Neither of us having been on a train for years, thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Complete with a train robbery, strolling western minstrals and a tour guide full of trivia to pass the two and a half hour trip through mostly sage brush, letting someone else drive was grand. However, Terry got a little bored just sitting. Of course he likes the action of doing the driving.

Today we are on our way to Terry's cousins in Prescott Valley for a few days of rest and family. Hopefully there I can find somewhere to upload some fun pictures.

Blessings to everyone, Sally
