Prescott Valley, where Terry's cousins Eunice and Walt have lived for 23 years, is beautiful and not too hot. Talking almost straight for three days, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit with them. Terry got to have copies made for he and Barb after spending an afternoon looking at old family photos. Eunice's dad and Terry grandfather were brothers. During their growing up years Eunice remembers how wonderful she thought Terry's mom was. Eunice just loved her so much because Willmyrth would take the time to talk to her like she was someone important. Eunice and Walt lived in Avery so that kept the conversation going also since Terry lived there as a kid too. Oh so many people and stories to remember. Walt does woodworking with a scroll saw and a huge cross is displayed at their church with many other examples throughout the church and in their home. He is very talented and generous with him time and energy.
Driving to Sedone took only an hour or so over a steep mountain road through an old mining town, Jerome, perched on a very steep hill. Mexican food for lunch sustained us as we drove around Sedona for an afternoon outing. The red cliffs and rock formations gives way to green cactus and other vegetation. The town has rules for what colors can be displayed outside businesses and homes so even McDonalds had green arches instead of yellow. Eunice says this is the only place in the world where the yellow arches aren't displayed. Who knew?
Leaving on Tuesday was difficult, but onward we pressed toward Florence Gardens, AZ to Terry's Auntie B's winter home in the snow bird community.
